Synonyms & Antonyms Worksheets

Synonyms are words with similar meaning. Antonyms are words with opposite meaning. These worksheets introduce synonyms and antonyms to kindergarten students, as well as give them practice in reading individual words and build vocabulary.

  • Using synonyms helps to make children' writing more exciting to read. To practice synonyms, they are asked to join matching pairs of synonyms in these worksheets. The purpose is to familiarize with the concept of synonyms and to help build vocabulary.

  • For kids who are comfortable printing words, they pick a word from the word bank that is a synonym and write it. This exercise builds vocabulary by introducing students to common synonyms.

  • To avoid writing dull texts, they need to use synonyms. In these jumbled word worksheets, students are given pairs of synonyms with the letters of the second word scrambled; they are asked to unscramble and print the second word.

  • An antonym is a word that means the opposite of another word. Knowing antonyms can help express themselves better. In these worksheets, children are asked to match pairs of antonyms.

  • Learning antonyms help increase their vocabulary and fluency in English. In these vocabulary worksheets, they are given pairs of antonyms with the letters of the second word scrambled. This is a fun language building exercise which also provides printing practice.

  • In these mixed synonym and antonym worksheets, they are given groups of four words and asked to circle the first word's synonyms and cross out the antonyms. Combining synonyms and antonyms in the same exercise helps to reinforce the meaning of both.

  • For children who can print words, these worksheets have them find one synonym and one antonym from the word bank and print them in the chart. The intent is to increase vocabulary and provide writing practice.

Plural Words WorksheetsMost nouns are made plural by putting an -s at the end (e.g. frog - frogs). These free worksheets help your kids understand 'more than one', as well as the singular versus plural form of words.
  • These worksheets focus on identifying plural words. They will learn that plural words simply mean 'more than one' and are typically formed by adding an "s" to a noun.

  • In these worksheets on writing plural words, they are shown simple objects and asked to write the plural form of each noun. This is good practice for plural words, vocabulary and printing!

  • In these worksheets, children distinguish between singular and plural words. They are given a sentence and asked to select the form of word (singular vs plural) to match the picture shown. The purpose is to give students practice using plural words in the context of sentences.

  • These worksheets focus on writing words in singular and plural form. Children complete sentences by writing the missing word in the correct form (singular vs plural). No word bank is provided, making this more challenging than our other plural word worksheets.

Multiple Meaning WordsHomonyms are words that are spelled the same and sound the same but with different meanings, like 'the watch' you tell time with and 'to watch' by looking at something.
  • The words in these worksheets have identical spellings but different meanings. Children are presented with words and images of their meanings, and are asked to print the word. The objective is to build vocabulary and help to understand that some words have two meanings.

  • Homonyms are words that are spelled or pronounced the same but have different meanings.

Question WordsInterrogatives or "question words" are used to ask questions. These vocabulary worksheets introduce common question words such as "Who", "How", "What" and "Why" and emphasize the difference between them.
  • These worksheets focus on interrogative words or question words such as "who", when", "what", and "why". Children work on the difference between the various question words in the context of practical sentences. They are asked to draw a line from the appropriate question word to each sentence fragment.
